George Sappenfield designed the first competitive disc golf course for an officially sanctioned event in the late 60s. With enthusiastic passion he developed the National Junior Frisbee Contest which eventually included Disc Golf. Sappenfield established the first college credit flying disc class. He went on to contribute the design of twenty-five more courses to date. George Sappenfield is among the few people whose early actions were responsible for the development of the sport of Disc Golf as it is today.
