PDGA Announces Elite and Major Event COVID-19 Policies for 2021 Season

Friday, February 19, 2021 - 12:59

Appling, GA: The Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA) and the Disc Golf Pro Tour (DGPT) have collaborated to develop a COVID-19 policy for both Elite Series events and PDGA-owned Major events for the 2021 season.

The PDGA Elite Series policy will be in place at all Elite events in 2021 (NT and DGPT). The PDGA Majors policy will be implemented at each of the four World Championship events, as well as the United States Women’s Disc Golf Championships and the United States Masters Championships. All other PDGA-sanctioned events will continue to observe the PDGA Requirements and Best Practices for sanctioned Play During Covid-19.

Six weeks before each event, an announcement will be made to confirm that the event is cleared to run via local policy and regulations. Two weeks before the tournament, each event will be given a phase designation of either Phase 1, Phase 2, or Phase 3 and a specific COVID-19 Overview with details pertaining to each event will be released.

The first event on the PDGA National Tour, Texas State Disc Golf Championships, is confirmed to proceed, and phase designation will be released two weeks prior to the event. The Disc Golf Pro Tour’s first event, the Las Vegas Challenge, has been designated a Phase 1 event, meaning caddies and spectators are prohibited. The DGPT previously released Policy & Best Practices Overview for the Las Vegas Challenge.

Policy documents, as well as updates and announcements regarding the pandemic, can be found on the COVID-19 FAQ page and at the Disc Golf Pro Tour website
