State Coordinator Switch in Vermont

Monday, February 10, 2020 - 14:22

We would like to inform you that there will be a switch in the State Coordinator position for Vermont, which will be effective immediately as of today, February 13, 2020. Previous State Coordinator, Jeff Spring #43994 has stepped down due to his expanded involvement with the Disc Golf Pro Tour, which will consume a great deal of his focus and require him to spend more time on the road with the Tour. We are excited for Jeff and his future with the Tour, as he brings a wealth of passion and experience to the DGPT. Please join us in wishing him the best and thanking him for his time served as State Coordinator.

Stepping into this role for the completion of the term is Chris Young. Chris is the owner and founder of "Disc Golf Vermont," a one-stop-shop for all things disc golf in the state. In concert with Spring, Chris has been partly responsible for the exponential growth of the sport in VT. In 2017, the Green Mountain State had only 35 courses, 6 events, and 58 PDGA members. Now, in just 4 short years, the number of members and events have nearly doubled, and no less than 6 new courses have been installed. Chris has played a large role in this growth, and in 2019 alone, he hosted 8 events, including the first-ever PDGA-sanctioned events on the courses at Bolton Valley and Jay Peak. We are excited to see this growth continue under Chris' tutelage.

To determine who would fill the position as interim State Coordinator, we referred to the results of the initial election in 2019. Chris was the second-place vote getter behind Spring in that election, and it was agreed by all parties that he would best fill the position and complete the term as State Coordinator, which ends August 31, 2021.

We welcome Chris Young as Vermont State Coordinator and thank him for his dedication and efforts. Should you need anything from Chris, he can be reached through the Contacts page of the PDGA website.

Thanks for your attention, and we hope you are off to a great start in 2020!
