Today a group of leaders and campers (aged 14-17) played at Aspen Meadows in both the East and West courses. The West course is certainly more challenging for novices but a rewarding one. The course if well groomed, thoughfully laid out for the more advanced player and has more hills/valleys to keep things interesting. Unfortunately we were only able to play 7 holes before it started to rain a bit.
The starting hole is over where the trailers and shed is. It was a bit confusing where to start and where to go next for the holes but once you get your bearings it is a lot of fun.
Overall the west course is tremendously rewarding for the challenge. It is a bit damp in places but it has been raining a lot lately. Some signage at the parking lot could help novices and new comers get their bearings faster. Even a print out or digital map with pars would be good. We really liked the course.
Bring some bug spray though, the mosquitoes are out but that is just more motivation to get moving from hole to hole.
Thanks for having us play:)
