Course Reviews
Very fun. Amazing view, surrounded by mountains. Holy wind hazard Batman! I live on the coast and haven't played in wind like that before. The vegitaion may be short and squat but I would try to stay clear of it. You can walk right on top of some of that tumbleweed mass. Bring a good rock climber in case you go in the gorge, there are some easy ways in and out but you might have a long walk back and forth.
PROS: Off the beaten path and located in a wide open space- If you like long drives and a few par 4s this is a great course to play. Several challenging mando shots, natural and manmade obstacles, and a small canyon keep it really interesting. The long tee pads are nice big concrete circles- some of the nicest pads to drive from that I've ever played. Some tricky basket placements along the edge of the canyon- be careful! Overall, nice layout design and some good imagination used on the manmade/recycled object obstacles. Mostly flat but a few good elevation shots too.
CONS: Not much bad to say- during peak summer months this course could be a bit of a stamina test if you're out of shape because its pretty long and there's not a lot of shade in areas- bring water and be prepared for a good long round of disc.
I give this course 3.5 - 4 LINKS.

I'm giving this 4 links, b/c it's by far the best DGC in the ABQ area. I played this yesterday for the first time (8/21/17) with a map. The map was valuable, as it was accurate and made hunting for the next tee very easy. There are 2 sets of tees for each hole: a pro tee, which is a huge concrete circle (14' diameter), and an Amateur tee, which is a rectangular box. Both tees have a hand-written sign designating the distance from each tee.
I played the pro tees and it played a lot like my home course in Scottsdale (Vista del Camino) when the chains are in the long setting...you can unload on pretty much every hole that's over 300'. The shorter holes are all technical, with a 20' gorge in play on a few holes and some manmade obstacles on others. For an added challenge, I'd suggest playing the course with OB rules since they are well thought out. The round took about 1.5 hrs, but some of that was looking for where the chains were located for some of the holes.
Some suggestions I'd have for the course manager/s are:
1) Cut some steps into the wash crossing where the bridge is washed out so that it's easier to cross for those of us over 40.
2) For the holes along the gorge with a large tree by it, add a rope that can be used to make it easier getting into and out of the gorge.
3) Add an orange (or some other color) flag on the top of the PVC poles so that it's easier to locate the holes. And for 9 and 10, add a PVC pole so it's visible.
Overall, I really enjoyed the course and would recommend to anyone visiting ABQ.
