Yes this is a desert course and can chew up softer plastics, but being located in Phoenix Arizona it offers great natural playing conditions. There are plenty of open shots that allow bigger arms to take big hyzer lines, but the elevation changes and pin placements definitely can make this course difficult. There is a full 27 hole course that can be played in it's entirety or broken up into various 18 hole layouts. There are a few pdga sanctioned Leagues that occur at this course that also offer some interesting layouts and added out of bounds and hazards to increase difficulty. I am in the process of adding some OB to the league that I run to increase ratings in sanctioned rounds and to increase safety for hikers and park patrons, I also play the saguaro cactus as hazards to protect our states natural flora. There are restrooms and water fountains near hole 1 as water is a necessity at this course. When it warms up be vigilant when grabbing discs from brush there are occasional critter sightings. Just an overall beautiful desert course that represents the phoenix area well. Signage was just updated as the sun has beaten up the older tee signs.

Coming from Illinois, the "Prairie State", this course presented major change. Our family had one day in Phoenix and votes were split between hiking and disc golf What to do? Well, this course offered the opportunity to both at the same time.
We loved the course. Its holes offered the opportunity to challenge the elevation changes by throwing both up and down the side of the mountain. The challenge to avoid cacti, mesquite trees, and rocks and boulders was way different than Midwest course offerings. And this course offered 27 holes, which will challenge you physically. We played in January when the temperature was in the 50s and we still worked up a sweat. Cannot imagine playing in the heat of summer!
There are plenty of holes at the base of the mountain to counter those "up and down" holes, so there is something for everyone.

This course is brutal, on your body and on your discs, but worth it.Bring water and old discs. It plays long and has some nice downhill shots. The layout is not terribly inventive but far short of boring.

One of my favorites. Good challenging course well laid out with good signage. Has everything except water..which is fine with me! I too am glad I did not see a snake on this course. I would recomend this course to friends and will definately play again.

In one word, Challenging. This course is literally built into the side of a mountain. Okay, maybe it's not actually a mountain but it's a pretty good hike. Very secluded course that offers great views and a good workout.

Buffalo Ridge is one of my favorite courses to play because of its desert landscape and elevation changes. This course has both distance and elevation, making it a challenge to all skill levels. Set in a desert park with cacti and mesquite trees, most of the year you'll be playing with a variety of lizards running around on the ground. The biggest hazard is the heat in the summer but even in the winter, don't go out without proper hydration available. There have been snakes seen on the course, but thankfully not by me. (Watch where you put your feet and when you're grabbing under the bushes to pick up your disc.)

When you play this course, bring you old disc that can be beat up, as the terrain will beat up most plastic.

This course will eat your soft discs alive! Bring hard plastic for this one. Very challenging course up and down the side of the mountain with lots of elevation, rocks and cactus. Beautiful views and a few blind holes, this course will help you burn calories and challenge your hiking abilities. For those with a moderate arm you can still fare well but precision putting will still be key when going up and down the mounds. Overall, good course to challenge distance, elevation play and durability. Plan on spending about 2hrs to finish this one.
