The Floral City disc golf course has been my favorite since the day that I discovered it. Mostly open shots with just enough trees to really make things difficult at times. The elevation changes are a welcome feature being as we are in Florida.

It had been about a year since the last time I played the course, and upon my return, I realize I took a few things for granted. Things that were mentioned by other reviews. The signage on the course is not very good. The signs are indeed located between the short and long tees, and all they tell you is the distance and the par. There is no visual representation of where the hole is in relation to the tee. This becomes a problem for people who are unfamiliar with the course. As an example, I found myself standing on the pad for hole 10 and could see three separate baskets all of which had potential for being the proper one for hole 10. While that makes for great gorilla golf if you're familar with the course, it could be quite frustrating for a newcomer to the course.

The grounds of the park itself are wonderful. Grass is normally mowed and kept clean, and both restrooms and pavilions are available.

The course is design has a nice feature where completion of the front nine brings you back to the parking lot so that if you only wanted to play 9 holes you're not completely across the field. Hole 10 and the back nine also start right near the parking lot. This is a nice feature if you're in a hurry and only have time to play 9 holes, or if you don't feel like carrying your drink or your cigarettes with you and choose to leave them in your vehicle.

This course has been, and will continue to be, one of my favorite courses in the state of Florida. I also particularly like this course because it is a great one to bring beginners to.

I would have given the course 5 stars, but the signs really are a problem. Especially as I realize that the last review of this course that stated the signs were a problem was from 7 years ago. That being said, I do have to give some credit to the course designers and the people that maintain it. Over the course of the last five years, the county is added in new power poles across the field that makes up the course. One of these power poles ended up being placed directly in line with the long hole pad for hole number 7. The people that maintain the course discovered this and apparently expanded the pad to allow a drive line that does not have a huge metal power pole 10ft in front of it.

One more point that I would like to mention, there is a sign in the display case under the pavilion by the parking lot that states they have night time disc golf beginning at 6 p.m. on Thursdays... at least as of my writing this review.

"Rolling hills?" I ask myself sarcastically a I drive to the course. Yes, actually. Rolling hills in Florida.

This course is gorgeous, well maintained, and fun to play. The facilities are nice, so you can bring the family and enjoy a picnic or some such thing under the sprawling live oaks.

Lots of big, open holes with a small handful of tricky shots. Especially if you only play in Florida, teeing off on these hills is just about the greatest thing you've ever felt in your life. I would agree that the placement of the signage can be a problem, but it's more time consuming than it is difficult. Besides that, no complaints at all - this is the best course I've played in north Florida.

What a great course. Cement tees, wide open spaces with great scenery. Absolutely beautiful setting. I have only one complaint. It is difficult to locate the tees because of the signage for the tees is placed between the two tees (long and short) making it difficult to tell where the tees actually are placed. Moving the signage to the longest tee would fcilitate locating the tees. A great course that has quickly become my favorite since moving to Ocala.

This is a challenging well laid out course placed within a beatiful public park with activities for the whole family. It is well worth the hour drive from Tampa for a few rounds with your friends.
