Lake Walcott lived up to its reputation. The course is now 21 holes. There are some huge cottonwood trees that really add to the beauty of the course. You will need all your shots to master the holes. None are extremely long except #5. The back 12 has alot of birdie chances if your aim is good. Accuracy is critical because trees come into play on all holes. I played on a Sunday morning and it wasn't crowded. The only con I would mention is that there is very little elevation change.

I would also recommend playing Massacre Rocks while you're in the area. It is a very unique and challenging course. Walcott and Massacre make a great duo.

This is in my top 5 favorite courses. The course is well layed out (once you find hole 1), every time I have gone, it is not very crowded. There is no overlap on holes so, there are minimal wait times to tee off. The one issue that you must be aware of is that the front 9 is windy---not breezy, but gail force winds. Each shot must be taken with caution and some heavier plastic.

The course is in a parklike setting with mowed grass and highly trimmed trees. I found no issues with getting discs stuck or needing a spotter on any holes. Even on hole 5 with the "disc eating pines," if you care a consistent thrower, even in the least, you wont have any problems. Hole 5 is long (576 ft) par three, but it is in an open field with the pines off to the right about 20-30 feet.

On the back nine there are a number of short holes (200-240 ft) that while they are short, are extremely well placed to make them challenging. Hole 12 is only 200 feet, but it has a low canopy of trees and the pin is placed on a hill. It is easy to overshoot the hill or not make it up and over. Other holes like this on the back nine make the course a blast to play. Also the back nine is well kept.

One of my favorite things about the course is the fact that each tee sign has a picture of the view from the tee and shows the pin placement, as well as the alternate pin placement, for the hole. It makes for quicker and easier play for the non locals.

Overall, if you have the chance to visit the course, do it. I've made a couple of trips up there (about 2 1/2 hour drive) and it is worth it.

This is by far the best course I have ever played. Trees come into play on every hole. Very well layed out.Forehand & backhand needed throughout. Water in play on one hole #13. Hole #5 is over 500 ft long and should be a par 4 but is posted as a par 3, and has a row of disc eating pine trees on the right side of the fairway, so keep left. if you do get a disc stuck in the pine trees there is a 20 ft length of pvc pipe underneath the trees to assist you. I'ts in a state park so there is a $5 fee per vehicle per day or $35 for an annual pass to all state parks. You will not regret playing this course. I would play this course over ROCK CREEK or CSI courses any day.
