First off, I've been playing disc golf for about 3 months now. I'm very new to the game, but have immediately fallen in love with it. So, that being said, this review is from the perspective of a beginner. This is what I would consider my home course, as I live within walking distance to it, which is very nice. The best thing about this course, in my opinion, is that it is NEVER crowded. Maybe there will be 1 or 2 others playing out there, but that is all.
Positives: This course offers a variety of holes, including two holes where a pond comes into play, a hole where a barn is an obstacle, a few wooded holes, and a few wide open, longer holes over 500'. The variety is very nice, and the wide open holes are good for beginners like me to learn to throw on. There is some elevation change on the course, but not a ton. Enough to mix it up, but nothing over the top. The course stays in mostly good shape. The tee signs aren't descriptive, but the holes are very easy to follow. I think finding hole 9 might be the only one that could give you a problem, but it's pretty simple if you're paying attention and a sign helps point the way. Tee boxes are concrete and good size for me.
Negatives: The biggest knock on this course is that it is very easy to lose a disc. If you are a beginner like me and make errant throws, you will throw one in the pond, on the roof of the barn, over a barb-wire fence, or just in some brush that makes it difficult to find. I've lost and found several discs on this course. Thorns abound if you miss the fairway on many holes.Poison ivy has begun to grow as well. So, the penalty for making a poor shot can be severe. Ideally, there would be alternate tee boxes and baskets, but not here. However, most of the holes wouldn't need them, because almost all are par 3 already. I think there are 4 par 4 holes.
Overall, I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with this course. Aspects of it are great, like being able to go and play whenever without a crowd, and overall the course is easier than many I've played. However, I hate loses discs, especially just starting out, and I find I do that too much on this course. However, a more experienced player I think would could really enjoy the challenge of this course on certain holes and avoid the mistakes I make. Because the course is mostly open, I think experienced players could score pretty well on it. As a beginner, I tend to average about +4 or 5. Even with the issues, I would recommend this course to everyone! I wish I saw more players around. Just take it easy and play it safe if you're starting out, and you'll have a great time!
