I've played this course on four successive days. I really enjoyed this course. I can't believe I haven't lost a disc, but I have had several long searches in the tall, soft weeds. The weaving through the trees was really fun. There are a few concrete tee boxes. The rest of the holes had rubber tee boxes. There are wood chip "greens" around all the baskets, which is nice. I think 11 of the holes had hole maps. There are many signs pointing you to the next tee boxes, but being so wooded, the paper map I printed from this site was very helpful for the first day. A few of the holes you could absolutely not see the basket from the tee box. There was some good diversity. There were a few holes that were very narrow throws down a tunnel of trees. There were some long, kind of wide open holes. There were some baskets that were totally surrounded by trees. There were a couple holes where a right hand curve shot was very helpful. Every hole was listed as a par 3, except 18 has an alternate basket position that is listed as par 4. Hole 5, the basket was surrounded by trees; it is reachable in two, but you would have to throw two amazing shots, so I think it could be a par 4 when the basket is in the trees; it is a par 3 when if the basket were in the position outside the trees. The course mostly wove through beautiful cottonwood trees. The dirt was very moist and there were a lot of soft weeds. My shoes got very dirty. If they had hole maps on every hole I would have rated this course a 5. I have really had a great time on this course. I look forward to going back. It took me 1:20 playing alone; it would be faster but have to search for discs in weeds pretty often.
Started playing Disc Golf the end of July 2011. Have played this course once or twice a week since then. I have marked the tee and pin locations with a Garmin GPS. I show the longest hole at 394 feet and the shortest hole at 191. The tee box for hole 1, 2 and 17 are cement pads with the remaining tees being natural. Signage is adequate, but... The city has done great improvements in the last two months and I have no reason to doubt this will continue. There has been some vandalism of signs (I assume it is folks passing thru the park on the way to the Verde River, not "frolfers")... I would change par on some of the holes, instead of making everything a par 3. Maybe that will happen when enough data is gathered, I don't know. After playing this course for a month, I traveled to South Dakota and played two courses - par and 9 under par... My friend from SD who traveled here to play this course called it "Jurassic Park"...
