If you go back now there are 6 more baskets, more tees, and it goes out back by the baseball fields. The tees from the old course are switched around. If you take your time you'll see that its more of a challenge with all the trees with some open drives. Since its ALWAYS windy up there its a great course to master the wind. I lived there for 6 years and been playing for 6 years in payson with my older brother David Marinelli, Chris, and Matt Baltz. i played my first rec tournament in 2011 in cottonwood and won it. If i haven't played in payson for as long as i did and played against the wind i wouldnt of won that tournament. So anyone that thinks this course is a joke should go back look at the challenges, enjoy the scenory, enjoy the great weather, and enjoy our great game of disc golf. I love payson, and i always will.

I walked this course yesterday and not that I have too much disc golf experience, but I thought it wasn't bad - especially given our cooler weather. There are nine baskets and I'm told there are maps at the first tee at the corner of McLane Rd and Payson Parkway (in the wilderness area). I also had Payson Parks and Rec fax me a map 928.474.5242x7. I'd attach a copy here if I could. The first three baskets are behind the library and soccer fields along Payson Parkway. Then tee 4 is across the road that connects Rumsey to Payson Parkway (right next to Kiwanis East field. The other 6 baskets are neat the Kiwanis field and walking path along the wash (there are 3 baskets on each side of the wash). You must look closely, though b/c at least 2 baskets are hidden in the trees. See the map for the tee locations - the only one not listed is tee #16. Enjoy!

Dbertoli did not take the time to grab a map from teepad #1. If he had , he would have found out that there are 18 teepads for the 3 baskets.
Great news !!! Now there are 9 baskets with 18 teepads. The course has a wide variety of long,short and techmical shots played forward and then backward (with different teepads).
The course is awesome and is very much worth a visit !!!

I think the first review was a pointlessly negative review. (wouldn't even drive 5 minutes across town? Seriously? come on)

If you take the time to find out the layout of the course (which is common to a LOT of disc golf courses) you will realize there are 18 distinct tee's. If you are aware of the course layout you will find this is actually a diverse, slightly technical course. And I thinks it's way better to start with something like this instead of having nothing at all...and I commend the creativity the designers did with very limited resources.

While I might not recommend driving 2 hours just to play this course, it is a great getaway when it's hot in the valley and it's very easy to get in a few rounds without killing yourself.

In the end, in my opinion, this is a great little course, and a lot better then nothing and better then some of the courses in Phoenix.

LOOK CLOSELY. 3 BASKETS. this is not a good course. In fact, it is quite a silly course, but the trees are nice. there are NOT 18 tees either.

Basically the idea here, is to start at one basket, play your way up the hill to the second basket, and from there, play your way back down to the third basket. Then turn around and go back the way from which you came. Back and forth til you get tired.

Gets tedious and boring very quickly. Hard to understand too, because Rumsey park is a beautiful park with baseball fields, a library, picnic table, trails, and even a full-sized soccer field complete with artificial turf.

The "disc course" seems to be an afterthought with only 3 baskets thrown into an area about half the size of a football field.

Do not recommend driving from anywhere further than 5 miles away to get to this place. We drove from Phoenix on bad advice. I wouldn't even recommend driving from the other side of payson.
