This course was fun, but as a newbie I wish I had some warning about hole 3. My son and I lost our favorite Discs in the Poison Oak. Other than that traumatic incident this was a fun and challenging course and will do it again (Maybe skip hole 3).

I got a chance to play Ryan last weekend and was pleasantly surprised. It was fun, fair, and challenging. I can see it is going to take a lot of work to keep the grass down to avoid lost discs, but it was fine when I played it. The distances were good, the fairways were fair and the landing areas fair. I really had nothing to complain about. I wouldn't mind a couple of bathrooms, but there were enough other type opportunities. My preference for tees is wide cement with rough broom finish. These tees were not cement but better than rubber mats and were, I believe, a type of synthetic turf. They worked fine. Overall, a very good course.

Bigger is not necessarily better. I fail to see the need for more than 18 holes on a frisbee golf course. The way I see it is that This course is 7 holes shy of being two courses. The layout and directions for the course were fairly clear, as well as the fact that it is a relatively new creation. The fairways are unkept and the course seems to have recently been transformed from an off road weekend camp and party location. There is a nice variety of game play here, ranging from extremely technical to wide open free for alls. I will say be wary of this course, I recommend a full walk through so you may examine the full dangers of its layout. This is a disc eating course if you are unaware of what is just off of the fairway. I will say that hole 3 left me with the greatest impression. It is rare to find a course with the ability to put the chains as far below you as they are far away. This course will easily become a 4 as the course matures.

This is only my 3rd time disc-golfing, but I like this courses layout. Good for some saterday morning fresh air and exercise. Some of the planes flying right overhead created some propwash we had to wait on, and be wary of the steep drop offs, we lost one disc and one cleared the barded wire and landed almost in the road! Only play the first 18, but other then that, the course had a nice challenging layout with several chances to test accuracy as well as long straight drives. Be wary of the fox tail, I will be picking it out of my sneakers for a while. Several patches of milk thistle too, watch for thorns if your disc strays off the main fairways. Giving it a five because I like the challenge.

As a CSUMB student it is great to have an opportunity to work on all facets of my game at Ryan Ranch. It provides wide open holes to practice the bombs and enough technical holes to keep short arms like me interested.

As my home course, I am part to blame for any of its faults and share in all its glories. The rapid progress from tone poles to hosting the Norcal championships has been exhilarating. After only 16 months from the first baskets being installed, this course has transformed into a thoroughly enjoyable experience for all. Please take a chance to enjoy this course in the rolling hills just outside Monterey, I guarantee you will not be disappointed.
