This course just seems to get better and better with age. I recently made it out again to this gorgeous property and was able to play a round with the owners. First class people with a first class course! Each hole is unique, challenging, and picturesque. A true decision making course, that will keep you thinking about your shots and disc selection. Absolutely fantastic design, and a must play with the proper reservations.

First a disclaimer: Yes I'm a brother (as in sibling!) and I've waited 5 years to review this course. I wanted to have played near a hundred course before I made my comments. That said....I have only played a couple of courses where each hole was different and unique. Where I had to plan a different driver for each hole. And at Stoney Hill, you get it. On the first seven holes, I use a different driver, and that goes the same for 11 of the first 12. Why? Because you start of with loooon down hill, then anhyzer Uphill, then Forehand or sky hyzer shot and so on. Nothing is duplicated. If you want to shoot well, you must have control, control and control. Now, these aren't poke-and-hope holes, but well craft fairways, some tight, some long. Outside of a few holes, it's not a grip and rip. It's grip, snap and place, Get out of control and your score will skyrocket. Stay in control and ...well your score can still take off! There aren't any 'gimmie' holes here. You gotta cinch up your big-boy pants and come to play.

And to add more fun to the mix, there's a creek that winds through the property that comes into play on 7 holes (on both sides of one hole) plus a big disc-grabbing pond in the middle! And if that's not enough...elevation every where! You're throwing uphill/downhill hyzer up, Hyzer down/Ani Up, Ani down!

Last part of the mix is that this is a private course, way off the beaten path. Better bring lunch and a cooler (especially for summer) 'cause there's nothing else available. There's also 3 different layouts: Diamond - Long. Garnet - Short. Quartz a bit off all where you can play a grueling 24 hole layout!

Being private, the course gets a big shaggy at times, best time to play is October through late April before the trees leaf out and grass grows crazy!

This is beautiful must play private course with tons of elevation and challenge. Venture off the fairways on some holes and you will be punished. A thinking mans course.

Very challenging. Bring your game. The designers went all out to challenge the best disc golfers. Will be a 4 or 5 with concrete tees and signs.

With the disclaimer that the author is one of the course owners...

This course is designed by longtime disc golfers and targeted towards Advanced and Pro players. We've tried to make every hole unique, from soaring off huge hills to threading tight woods, with OB a threat on most holes.

As a private course, there are no backups or litter, and it's a beautiful and peaceful place. And it is free to play.

On the other hand, reservations are required so you can't just play on a whim. For Rec and Casual players, the course may be overwhelming (there are no short tees), some of the rough is pretty rough, and a lost disc is always a risk.
