Description

Four 18-Hole courses and a 9-hole safari course in the middle of the UC Irvine campus. Marked with; white, black, green, red and blue tape on light poles. Plenty of OB and elevation, wide-open fairways, a variety of trees and landscaping. Weekend play is recommended as this is an active campus during the week. Originally developed and installed by Tom Boda in 1976, UCI hosted several qualifiers for the World Flying Disc Championships in the late-seventies and the SoCal Disc Golf Championship in 1998. The original 36-holes have white taped poles and tees for the front 18, with black tape and yellow tees for 19-36. The red tape and tees Safari course was added by Loren Price and Larry Bell in 1984 for the annual Iron Arm tourney. A third green tape and tees course was added by Loren Price, Larry Bell, and Scott Chapman in 1990 for the annual Thanksgiving Turkey Shoot. A blue tape and tee Championship course was added in 2015 by Steve Key. A much longer course with several mandatories. Hitting tape is no good. OB = ice-plant, vinca ground cover, bike racks next to Engineering, and above 2m in the trees. Outcropping in the center of the park not OB, but you may not be able to retrieve it from the aloe. Banners are good on holes 1-54.
