Nagtegaal Resigns from PDGA Global BOD to Focus on PDGA Europe

Friday, August 4, 2017 - 12:19

The Professional Disc Golf Association announces that Hans Nagtegaal has resigned from the PDGA Global Board of Directors due to professional reasons effective August 1, 2017. As the current Interim PDGA Europe Administrator, Hans will focus his efforts on establishing PDGA Europe operations as well as transitioning the newly elected PDGA Europe Board of Directors into their roles beginning September 1, 2017. The PDGA is currently exploring options for filling the position left vacant due to this resignation.

Hans’ dedicated service as a Board member dates back to May 2015, where he played a key role in leading the organization through unprecedented growth and popularity. We ask all members to join us in offering Hans a heartfelt thank you for his years of service and wishing him the best of luck as he leads PDGA Europe to future success.

Below is a message from Hans on this issue:

"A few years ago when I joined the Board of Directors, I obviously brought a lot of European culture and ideas to the Board. I was especially fortunate to join the vision of Brian Hoeniger, PDGA's International Director, to truly globalize the PDGA and the sport of disc golf. This was quickly made into a high priority project with the Board's blessing. Since October 2016, when I was appointed Interim PDGA Europe Administrator, I spent more and more time and energy on this project, especially during its first stage, the founding and development of PDGA Europe.

With PDGA Europe's first Board election having just concluded, and its members about to begin their terms, I came to the conclusion that I should make myself available fully for PDGA Europe's Board of Directors. As painful as it is to me, I now feel I have to choose between being on the PDGA Board of Directors or being at the heart of developing PDGA Europe. Knowing that my second nature is digging with my hands in the dirt, planting seeds, and making things grow; PDGA Europe is that seed, and it needs to be taken care of for it to flourish.

It has truly been an honor and a privilege to serve on the PDGA Board of Directors, and I wish I could continue being part of it, but it's time to move on. As Interim PDGA Europe Administrator, however, I will still be very close to the heart of the matter; which is growing our beloved sport."
