PDGA Europe is pleased to announce that Finland’s Seppo Paju and Estonia’s Kristin Tattar have won its prestigious 2018 PDGA Europe Player of the Year awards, both for the first time ever, based on their consistently stellar level of play throughout 2018.

These highly contested awards are based on a number of criteria, including end of year player rating, place of finish at PDGA Major events, the European Championships, and the EuroTour Series, as well the number of “hot rounds” a player shoots - defined as 1030+ rated rounds for men and 930+ rated rounds for women. Special thanks go out to Mathematics Professor and Slovakia Country Coordinator Richard Kollar for designing this “calculus” and tabulating the final standings.

Paju finished with 473 points to best the 3 time winner Simon Lizotte (420) from Germany, and the 2016 victor Denmark’s KJ Nybo (364). Tattar’s 520 points topped Finland’s teen-aged phenoms, 2 time Euro Player of the Year Eveliina Salonen (470), and 2018 European Championships gold medallist Henna Blomroos (410).

Both their victories can be attributed in significant part to top-notch performances across the pond in USA, at the PDGA Pro World Championships and the USDGC/USWDGC. Seppo’s T6th finish in Vermont and T15th at Winthrop were best among all Europeans, as were Kristin’s 8th place performance at Worlds and top 4 showing at USWDGC.

Paju and Tattar will be receiving their awards at the 2019 European Open in Finland.
