Get ready for the 2023 Disc Golf Pro Tour Championship!
After 15 Elite Series, nine Silver Series, and four Majors, the Disc Golf Pro Tour has reached its final stop of the season with the 2023 Disc Golf Pro Tour Championship presented by Barbasol in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The DGPT Championship has been held at the end of the season each year since the DGPT’s inception in 2016, showcasing the players who performed the best in each given year.
Throughout the season, players are awarded Tour Points for their placement at tour events. Now the top 20 players in the FPO points standings and the top 32 players in the MPO points standings will compete in the DGPT Championship.
The tournament will be split into the Semifinals and Finals, which will each take place over two rounds. In previous years, there would be a cut after each round with higher seeded players receiving automatic byes to later stages, but this year all players in the field will compete in the Semifinals before the first cut is made. It was possible in the past for a high-seeded player to play only two rounds and win the tournament, but the winner of the 2023 DGPT Championship will have played all four rounds.
Instead of byes, higher seeded players are given “starting strokes” that will be subtracted off their total going into the Semifinals. The more tour points a player has, the bigger the advantage as the #1 seed in the FPO division will start the tournament at 5-under and the #1 seed in the MPO field will start at 6-under.
After two rounds, the top eight FPO players and top 12 MPO players will advance to the Finals. Going into the Finals, the slate will be swept clean and every player will start back at even par with the winner being decided after two more rounds with a record-setting payout on the line.

Just like last year, the DGPT Championship will take place at Nevin Park. The updated 2023 layout is almost 1,00 feet longer for the FPO field and over 1,700 feet longer for the MPO division. The updated course also features more mandatories as well as more separate MPO and FPO basket placements. Three holes from last year have been cut with holes 1, 17, and 18 featuring new designs for this year’s layout.
Last year saw success for the top seed in each division in the final rounds of the 2022 DGPT Championship. Kristin Tattar was the only player to finish under par in the Semifinals and found herself with a four-stroke lead going into hole 18 in the finals. Even with an OB stroke leading to a double bogey on the final hole, Tattar finished with a two-stroke lead to take her first DGPT Championship win. If Tattar wins this year, she will become the first FPO player to win back-to-back titles at the DGPT Championship.
Top seed Ricky Wysocki was dominant in 2022 and took a birdie on hole 18 in the Finals to force a playoff against #15 seed Isaac Robinson, who had a breakout season last year. The pair returned to the tee of hole 18, which had consistently played as the most difficult hole on the course throughout the tournament. While Robinson stuck to his gameplan to take a par, Wysocki went for it again and sank a putt from Circle 2 to become the 2022 tour champion.
