Tattar Completes Dominant Jonesboro Run

2024 Jonesboro Open - Final FPO Recap

Monday, April 15, 2024 - 17:19

Watching Kristin Tattar take a victory lap on Sunday, the viewer might think they were watching the Tattar of 2022-2023, or maybe the Paige Pierce of 2017.

It was an all-out display of dominance that left little doubt about the outcome.

Indeed, most of the interest during Sunday’ FPO Final Round at the 2024 Jonesboro Open came from the race for 2nd place between Eveliina Salonen and Holyn Handley; that, and watching for highlight reel moments from the inevitable champion.

One such moment came on hole 7 when she nearly threw in for Eagle with a 200-foot blind forehand approach that hit dead center mid cage. Instead, it turned into a drop-in birdie for Tattar – one of eight birdies on the day – on her way to turning in a 994-rated 4-under.

It was enough to secure a 9-stroke victory over Holyn Handley, who, registered her third podium finish of the season after picking up two strokes on Eveliina Salonen on the last two holes to edge Salonen out by one.

Tattar, meanwhile, looks like she may be rounding into form just in time to defend another Major Championship in two weeks at the PDGA Champions Cup after her streak of 6-consecutive majors ended in March at USWDGC.

But first, another DGPT stop at the Music City Open will provide Tattar and the FPO field one more test before heading to Peoria.
