ESTACADA, Ore. – There’s been a playoff at the Beaver State Fling every year since 2015, and that level of competitive drama returns next weekend.

The Professional Disc Golf Association and the Stumptown Disc Golf Club are pleased to announce that the 2019 Beaver State Fling will take place from Friday, June 7 through Sunday, June 9 at Milo McIver State Park. One of six events on the PDGA’s National Tour, the Fling will find 104 of the world’s top professional disc golfers competing over three days, with a projected $35,000 in prize money up for grabs.

Competitors will play two rounds of 18 holes each on Friday, with a solo round taking place on Saturday and Sunday. Lead groups tee off around 1 p.m. each afternoon, and spectators are welcome. Admission to the park is $5, and a free shuttle service will run on Saturday and Sunday for those who cannot park near tournament central.

Known for being one of the most beautiful venues on the PDGA National Tour circuit, McIver is beloved by both players and fans. The Beaver State Fling regularly attracts one of the largest crowds on tour and in 2016 delivered one of disc golf’s most famous moments: Philo Brathwaite’s albatross on McIver West’s 850-foot 6th, a shot that helped the sport go viral.

“It never ceases to amaze us – the level of local support, rain or shine, is amazing,” Tournament Director Jeff Mittl said. “The disc golf communities from the greater Portland area come out strong, from the first tee on Friday to the final putt for the win on Sunday. All of us at the Beaver State Fling are proud to host disc golf's elite players on two of the most challenging and beautiful disc golf courses in Oregon.”

In addition to the competition, spectators can enjoy barbeque on site, as well as craft beer from Albany’s Calapooia Brewing. Sport-specific vendors and a mini disc golf course round out the fun.
