Paige Pierce has more or less owned Maple Hill since she won her first National Tour event here at the Vibram Open in 2014. Since then, only one woman has interrupted her dominance—Sarah Hokom, who took home the MVP Open title in 2018.

They’ve battled now for three-straight days, trading blows and moves step-for-step.

Sunday is the war.

Hailey King bounced back from every misstep even stronger on Saturday at Brewster Ridge to take a two-stroke lead over Paige Pierce into the finale of the Disc Golf Pro Tour’s 2020 Green Mountain Championship at Smugglers’ Notch.

The two entered moving day in Vermont all tied up after Pierce’s scorching day at Fox Run on Friday.

Five holes into Friday’s round at Fox Run Meadows, Kevin Jones had nothing to show but pars on the scorecard and had fallen out of the top ten at the 2020 DGPT – Green Mountain Championship. 13 holes and 11 birdies later he found himself with the hot round— a 1081-rated (unofficial) 10-under—and the outright lead at 17-under heading into Saturday’s round at Brewster Ridge.

James Conrad first entered the Vermont woods two weeks ago to quarantine, practice and explore the green mountains.

On Thursday, he went on a morning stroll through Brewster Ridge.

Conrad fired off a record-matching, 13-under par 48 to kick off the weekend at the Disc Golf Pro Tour’s Green Mountain Championship at Smugglers’ Notch Resort.

In contrast, Sarah Hokom finished strong, birding four-of-five on the back nine to build a one-stroke lead in the FPO division.

Sunday, September 6 - Round 4

This one was different for the champions.

Four days of competition ended in Peoria, Illinois with emotions running high on the 18th green for 2020 Ledgestone Insurance victors Catrina Allen and Ricky Wysocki.

Moments after the 72nd hole was completed, both expressed how reaching this point – a Disc Golf Pro Tour elite tier title – signified the past year in their careers. Both had obstacles to overcome -- physically and mentally.

There was plenty of movement as weekend golf arrived on Saturday in Peoria, Illinois.

But not at the top of the leaderboard.

Catrina Allen matched her stellar round on Friday with another 9-under, 1000-plus rated showing and Ricky Wysocki’s arrival at Lake Eureka was accompanied by some big momentum.

Both leaders of the 2020 Ledgestone Insurance Open find themselves with a solid and sizeable lead heading into Sunday’s finale.

One shot, one hole at a time was Catrina Allen’s simple and effective game plan heading into round two of the Ledgestone Insurance Open.

It worked out extremely well for Allen at Sunset Hills when things were going good, which happened often on Friday, and even in her lone blemish of the day.

Allen fired off a 1014-rated, 9-under round, besting the next-best round by three sticks on the way to building a seven-stroke lead heading into the weekend.

Kevin Jones raced to an early lead and watched as the rest of the field battled Northwood Park. Photo: DGPT

Kevin Jones set the mark early and it stood. Gregg Barsby and Paul Ulibarri were flawless in a return to form for both. James Conrad took a punch and battled back.

Catrina Allen started a birthday celebration with a tie for first alongside a rollercoaster round from Vanessa Van Dyken. Two more players, Paige Peirce and Ellen Widboom rounded out a tightly contested battle.

Holly Finley posted just her fifth career 1000-plus-rated round Friday to take a commanding 5-throw lead over the FPO field as the DGPT returned to the heavily-wooded Idlewild course in Burlington, Kentucky for the 2020 Idlewild Open.

Finley, who prefers the technical wooded courses, led the FPO field with 71% fairway hits and managed to get through with only a single OB stroke.

Since its emergence on the professional scene in 2017, Kentucky's Idlewild Open has served as the de facto entrance into the season's wooded stretch – and it marks that entrance with a vengeance.
