The finale of the Beaver State Fling was yesterday at Milo McIver State Park in Estacada, OR, just outside of Portland.  Mother Nature was cooperative all weekend, as the rain that crushed the area weeks prior ceased just in time to finish over 200 hours of mowing, turning the overgrown jungle of the east and west Riverbend disc golf courses into a pristine venue, more than suitable for a weekend of National Tour golf.  Co-tournament directors Jeff Mittl and Jeff Hagerty and their amazing team of volunteers and staff once again treated the players to one of the most exciting and well-run events of the 2013 National Tour Elite Series

It is time again for one of the most highly anticipated events of the season; the Beaver State Fling presented by Keen and Next Adventure.  The Stumptown Disc Golf crew and the Oregon State park system have consistently put on an outstanding event for years, and this year is no exception.  Co-tournament directors Jeff Hagerty and Jeff Mittl spare no expense when it comes to ensuring a memorable experience for all involved in the event.  The exclusive registration process of the Fling produces one of the most highly-skilled fields throughout the national tour season.  In the open division, the average player rating is right around 1000.  In the women’s division, there are 24 compe

This weekend, the 2013 PDGA National Tour continues toward the Drive for the Championship.  Just two weeks after Ricky Wysocki destroyed the course record (twice) and his competition at the Discraft Great Lakes Open in Milford, Michigan, the tour now heads to the familiar location of Kansas City, MO for the sixth stop on the National Tour.  Grip Equipment presents the 31st Kansas City Wide Open will boast four incredible courses to be used in this event, includin

The Toboggan Course, located in beautiful Kensington Metropark in Milford, Michigan is one of the game’s most challenging. Because it is temporary and usually only available for play once a year for the US Amateur Disc Golf Championships, the rough is rough and the holes are long.  This complex doubles as an actual toboggan run and ski area in the winter, hence the dramatic elevation changes.  At a modest par 62, sometimes breaking par is difficult enough.  Add in the occasional light rain shower, and it could be a recipe for disaster.  But not today.

The PDGA trailer is packed and hitting the road once again, on its way to Scottsdale, AZ for the first leg of the 2013 National Tour Elite Series sponsored by Vibram. The tour will feature the top players in the Men’s and Women’s Open divisions as they compete in the fifth annual “Drive for the Championship”.

In addition to the National Tour stops, the PDGA trailer will also make an appearance at several other tournaments throughout the season. Be on the lookout for the PDGA trailer at the following events:

This weekend at Maple Hill Farm the 2012 PDGA National Tour came to a close with the Vibram Open. Using her victory at the crowning event of the 2012 PDGA National Tour as a springboard Catrina Allen secured her first Women's PDGA National Tour Championship title while 2012 PDGA World Champion Paul McBeth took home the honors in the Men's division.

So let's figure out who is going to be crowned the PDGA National Tour champion for the men's and women's sides. We've got all the stats available and if you like numbers, you are going to love checking out all of the possible combinations.

Let's start with the ladies' side - it is pretty straight forward. Valarie Jenkins controls her own destiny. If she wins or gets 2nd at the Vibram Open, like she has done from 2008-2011, she will be crowned the NT Champion. If she gets third or worse, Catrina Allen could catch her. If Valarie gets 5th or worse, anything goes.

Cale Leiviska and Catrina Allen are your 2012 Beaver State Fling Champions!

There is an old saying that everything in Oklahoma is built crooked and the wind blows it up straight so if the wind ever stopped, everything would fall down.

For the second time in this early disc golf season, the touring disc golf pros find themselves with a first-time National Tour host, as the Tulsa Disc Sports Association welcomes the sports’ best players to the 2009 Green Country Open at the Taylor Lodge in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, about an hour north of Tulsa.

And while the champions from the first two NTs are here to do battle, Nikko Locastro (The Memorial winner) and Ken Climo (The Atlanta Open winner), the rest of the field is quite formidable as well, with no less than 18 other 1000-rated players ready to compete on the two-course private facility.
