Happy Ratings Update Day! Steve Hill and Sara Lamberson share their observations on the latest stats release (1:15) before looking at Dave Feldberg’s Pro Masters World title (5:12) and his prospects for capturing dual Pro/Masters World Championships (8:40). Plus, playoffs abound in Kansas City (11:25).

Stop the presses! Alert the authorities! Put up the Bat Signal!

Eagle McMahon finally carded a bogey at the Konopiště Open.

Eagle McMahon’s total score over three rounds of the 2017 Konopiště Open was 15-under par.

He only needed one round at the Franz Ferdinand course this year to best that performance.

ESTACADA, Ore. – For someone who had just shot a 9-under par round to take the lead at the Beaver State Fling, Simon Lizotte wasn’t terribly excited. Dressed head to toe in black, his sartorial choice matched his somber mood.

“If I could finish rounds, I’d be really good,” he said, resignation in his voice.

After a 28th-place finish at last week’s Santa Cruz Masters Cup that registered as his worst on the PDGA National Tour since 2015, Simon Lizotte only needed four days and some open fairways to rediscover his form.

EMPORIA, Kan. – If Winthrop Gold’s iconic hole 17 is disc golf’s most consequential, the Emporia Country Club’s 365-foot 16th is a worthy rival. And during Saturday’s final round of the Dynamic Discs Glass Blown Open, the picturesque, hair-raising island shot added another page to its growing legend.

EMPORIA, Kan. – Disc golf is a game that can give as quickly as it can take. Never was that more apparent than during a raucous second round of the Dynamic Discs Glass Blown Open Friday afternoon at the Emporia Country Club, where each of the event’s leaders experienced their own tumult.

EMPORIA, Kan. – “I want to act the same if I’m 18-under or if I’m 18-over.”

There weren’t any buzzer beaters, though competitors did race Mother Nature’s shot clock on Saturday. Nor were there any UMBC Retrievers to be found, but some did have to retrieve wayward discs from the waters of the Brazos River. Heck, there wasn’t even an upset; even if there was, Nate Perkins over Jeremy Koling would have been more akin to No. 13 Marshall over No. 4 Wichita State than Friday night’s No. 16 over No. 1 shocker.

Two elite series events are in the books, and there has already been a major shakeup in the Directors Poll.

Simon Lizotte was scared entering the 2018 season. Not for himself, mind you, but for his competition.

“I said to my coaches, too, that if I would really try then everyone else would have no chance,” Lizotte said.

Sometimes you have to be lucky to be good. In Simon Lizotte’s case Friday at the Memorial Championship, though, he was good before he was lucky.

HENDERSON, Nev. – Eagle McMahon and Joel Freeman stood feet from the 18th basket on the Adidas Terrex course on one of the rare patches of green grass in this parched desert landscape. The sun had just set on the third round of the Las Vegas Challenge, and the two Colorado natives could not help but be in awe at their current standing.

“I can’t believe that Joel – from Colorado -- and me are first and second right now,” McMahon said. “That’s so ridiculous.”

After playing in such difficult conditions yesterday, competitors of the 2015 Aussie Open were hoping for Mother Nature to ease up. Yesterday’s storm had cooled things down quite a bit, but it did leave a lingering breeze which, in Australia, tends to swirl and confuse players to almost maddening proportions. If you have the mental game to combat the humidity and blustery conditions, you seriously have a chance to spring forward to make a big leap on the leaderboard. That is exactly what three particular players intended to do.

On Saturday October 25th, 2014, Germany’s rising star of disc golf, Simon Lizotte #8332, set a new world record for the longest outdoor throw of a flying disc. With a 17mph wind at his back, he crushed a 157g Innova Blizzard Boss, a gift from 2009 PDGA World Champion Avery Jenkins #7495, on a huge anyhyzer line across the flat desert land of Primm, NV. The distance that was reported back to him by radio from the spotter using an approved distance finder was an incredible 263.20 meters (863.5 feet)!

When we arrived at Old Settlers' Park this morning for the second round of the 2014 Texas State Championships, we knew we'd be in for an interesting morning to say the least. Typically when we get to the park in the morning to set up the tents, PA system, and feather banners, the only people around are the tournament staff and the grandmasters warming up on the course. What we saw instead as we winded around the park heading towards tournament central was an absurd amount of pedestrians walking the paths that meander through the fairways of the course.
