The last DGPT Europe Elite Series of this season’s European Swing started with a bang yesterday, and the weren’t any signs of the players taking their foot off the gas for Moving Day and Round 2.

However, as with any Moving Day, we saw a lot of positions switched today in both divisions but both leaders remain in 1st place after R2.

In the FPO division, Finland’s Heidi Laine started the day with a two-stroke lead to Eveliina Salonen with her great -9 round yesterday. And while she certainly didn’t hit that level today with a -1, she still managed to extend her lead with a single stroke before leading out the lead card to the Final Round tomorrow at the Tallinn Song Festival Grounds.

The main reason for that is because her closest competitor before the round, Eveliina Salonen, fell off the pace from yesterday, and coming in with +2 for the round, means that the Finn is now T5.

Her spot in 2nd place was taken by Missy Gannon who shot a great -6 round today, taking her total to -7. However, she doesn’t hold that spot on her own, as Kaidi Allsalu managed to climb one spot up from 3rd. It will be very interesting indeed to see if either the American or the Estonian crowd favourite will be able to track down Laine, who is within touching distance of the win.

Jenni Karppinen is also in the mix after shooting -4 today, which places her 4 back of Laine with a total of -6. And she is in turn one stroke ahead of a trio consisting of Estonians Kaire Tekku and Keiti Tätte who are joined by Eveliina Salonen in T5.

Henna Bloomroos shot the hot round of the day with a -7, taking her to T8 with Anniken Kristiansen Steen. Kristin Tattar currently closes out the Top 10 in -2 for the event.

In the MPO division, most players were probably wondering on how to catch leader Ricky Wysocki, who annihilated the course yesterday with 1119 rated -16 round.

And with the excitement still looming from yesterday, the crowd had turned up hoping for more spectacular disc golf in the Estonian capital. And while none of the players managed to copy Wysocki’s score from R1, 6 players managed to score double digits, with Ezra Aderhold shooting the hot round of the day with -12. However, he is still 14 strokes back of Ricky Wysocki, who with a -9 round today is still a whopping 5 strokes ahead of Kyle Klein in 2nd place.

Wysocki’s lead is reduced by one going into the Final Round, but he has shown incredible form of late, so his competitors must come up with something magical in order to pry the title away from the 2x World Champion.

Paul McBeth climbed his way into solo 3rd place with a -10, matching Klein’s round. The 6x World Champion is two strokes ahead of both Joona Heinänen and Aaron Gossage, who thundered up the leaderboard with a bogey free -11 round, moving all the way from 23rd.

He wasn’t the only one to shoot -11, as both Latvian Rainers Balodis and German superstar Simon Lizotte both matched Gossage’s score, moving 32 and 35 spots up the leaderboard.

While we probably aren’t in for close race tomorrow, the players have still shown us that this course gives great disc golf, so make sure to tune in tomorrow for the Final Round on Disc Golf Network!
