There’s a four-way tie in FA50, a three-way tie in MP40 — with seven players just one stroke back — and 19 more divisions either tied or with the leader ahead by less than three strokes.
Opening day definitely set the stage at the 2023 PDGA Masters Disc Golf World Championships in Flagstaff, Arizona.
Nearly 900 players in 25 divisions kicked off Flagstaff’s first PDGA Major in nearly 20 years on Tuesday and the competition is tight as the marathon begins:
Fast Starts
Steve Rico set the pace early at Little America Long with a 10-under round. It was matched later in the afternoon by Michael Johansen and Cale Leiviska, who made his Masters Worlds debut on Tuesday. Seven players are one-stroke back, including defending champion Joe Rovere and three-time Masters champion Dave Feldberg, who both made late-round pushes. Feldberg will make the lead card.

In FP40, Ohn Scoggins opened her title defense with a 1008-rated 12-under round at Fort Tuthill. Stephanie Vincent is three-strokes back, one ahead of Holly Finley and two in front of Sandi Hendel.
Ties at the Top
Arizona’s Pat Duran, Estonia’s Eve Jänes, Colorado’s Nicole Baker and two-time PDGA Major winner Debbie Polkinghorne are all tied up in FA50.
Mitch McClellan, Tim Keith and Canada’s Graham Garlick are knotted up in MP60 after 4-under rounds at Thorpe Park. They’ll move to Little America Long on Wednesday.
In MP55, Hank Kirwan and Derek Johnson are tied with four players three strokes back.
MA40 and FA40 both have co-leaders: Sean D'armi and Wesley Hunt in MA40 and Michelle Wobker and Melody Hanford in FA40.
