Simon Lizotte was scared entering the 2018 season. Not for himself, mind you, but for his competition.

“I said to my coaches, too, that if I would really try then everyone else would have no chance,” Lizotte said.

Paige Pierce’s dominance of the FPO division continued on Saturday. The now back-to-back Memorial champion sealed her runaway victory with a 5-under par 55 at Vista Del Camino to finish 19-under for the event and with an 11-stroke victory. Lisa Fajkus had a late-round push to shoot a 3-under-par 57 and tie Jessica Weese for second place, while Catrina Allen bounced back with a 2-under par 58 performance to tie with a struggling Jennifer Allen for the fourth spot.

Sometimes you have to be lucky to be good. In Simon Lizotte’s case Friday at the Memorial Championship, though, he was good before he was lucky.

Different year, same story.

Paige Pierce dominated the 2017 Disc Golf Pro Tour circuit and is showing no signs of a let down for the 2018 season. Pierce now holds a seven-stroke lead after shooting a 6-under par 50 at Fountain Hills and will be in control going into the final day of the tournament. The Texas native's tournament total of 14-under par puts her ahead of Jessica Weese and Jennifer Allen, who both threw 4-under par 52s and sit at 7-under overall. Lisa Fajkus moved up one spot into third place after shooting a 5-under par 51 and is now at 5-under for the event.

There’s a reason fans refer to this week’s tour stop in Arizona as the “Mc”morial.
