Early Spring means the waters of Clarks Hill Lake, which sits just off the International Disc Golf Center’s “Steady” Ed Headrick Memorial course, haven’t yet relinquished their winter chill. That didn’t stop two new National Collegiate Disc Golf Championship teams from a celebratory swim on Saturday afternoon, cringes and all.

They’ve all got that win championships every-other-year thing locked down. Schusterick and the Giants have accomplished the feat three times, Pierce four. And now the Bulldogs are trying their best to play catch-up.

When the Colorado Mesa University Mavericks walked out to Blake Rules’ “Bees” during the opening ceremony of the National Collegiate Disc Golf Championships -- “It’s a goofy song,” junior Aaron Gossage admitted -- they did so as the 50th-ranked team in College Disc Golf’s most recent update. Only two other teams in attendance in Georgia this week -- Purdue and Arizona State -- clocked in lower.
There are still several spots available for the 2019 PDGA Amateur World Doubles Championships in Mt. Vernon, TX. The event takes place April 11th-14th and features four beautiful, world-class, championship courses housed at the renowned Selah Ranch and Trey Texas Ranch.

Europe’s biggest professional disc golf event, the European Open, has made a three-year deal with the Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA). With this deal, Europe’s first PDGA Major disc golf event will be held annually with Major status until 2021. The European Open gathers 144 of the best male and female players and is known for the largest gallery in disc golf. With the help of the PDGA, the European Open will also show play-by-play coverage of the Open Women's division.
Registration for the 2019 Tim Selinske US Masters Championship, a PDGA Major event taking place from September 5-8 in Leicester, Massachusetts, on the legendary Maple Hill DGC is now open!
Registration for the 2019 European Open, a PDGA Major event taking place from July 18-21 in Nokia, Finland, is now open!
All registration periods begin at 18:00 EET (6:00 p.m. EST) on the dates listed. Registration requires a free account with Disc Golf Metrix and a separate payment through the Innova Champion Europe online store. Find more information about the full registration procedure at the link below.
As the PDGA remains focused on providing first-class tournament opportunities to our membership, we consistently review feedback from our players, TDs, volunteers, and staff upon completion of our PDGA Major events. After holding the first stand-alone PDGA Junior Disc Golf World Championship in 2018, we observed and received feedback about our youngest age divisions, MJ6 and FJ6, that indicates that a Major tournament environment is not the ideal setting for this age group.
PDGA state and provincial coordinators may now start accepting requests for approval of dates for 2019 B-Tier and C-Tier events.
The 2019 PDGA Event Sanctioning Form is now enabled, so tournament directors for pre-approved 2019 A-Tiers and State/Prov Coordinator-approved 2019 B & C-Tiers, may now submit their sanctioning.
The schedule for the 2019 PDGA Majors (10 domestic, 1 international), 2019 PDGA National Tour events (6), and 2019 Disc Golf Pro Tour events (11) is now complete and is published below along with several other notable events for reference.
PDGA Major Events are the premier national and international competitions for the sport of disc golf each year, featuring the world’s best disc golfers competing for World and National Titles in multiple skill, age, and gender-based divisions. These PDGA marquee events offer any city or town the chance to host an international sporting event in their community, drawing interest and attention to the location, and generating a significant economic impact for local businesses.
