If you’ve been following the National Collegiate Disc Golf Championships (NCDGC) over the last few days, you shouldn’t be surprised to hear that we (tournament staff) were all elated to have finally made it to the Team Championship Finals on Saturday. Running the NCDGC is an exhausting process matched by no other event in the sport. With only one round of team doubles remaining for the Championship Flight, First Flight, and Second Flight, the morning and afternoon felt like a vacation compared to the days prior.

In the last two days of competition at the 2017 National Collegiate Disc Golf Championships, the teams that make up the Championship Flight have played in three team doubles rounds and one round of singles on a combined four courses here at the Hippodrome Disc Golf Complex. If you’ve been following the results online, there’s a good chance you’re a bit confused as to who’s in the lead. Worry not, disc golf fans. No one knows who’s in the lead just yet. The long-awaited results of today’s rounds will determine which teams make the cut for the finals on Saturday. Finally, we’ll know who’s winning!

Two rounds down, and a lot more to go here at the 2017 National Collegiate Disc Golf Championships (NCDGC) here at the Hippodrome Disc Golf Complex in North Augusta, South Carolina. 43 schools from around the country teed off in unison on Wednesday morning playing two full rounds of a highly unique version of team doubles; a format that has become an NCDGC staple.
There is no better place to be than the greater Augusta area this time of year if you’re a fan of golf, especially if you’re a fan of both traditional and disc golf. As spring begins to set in, Augusta hosts what is generally considered the most renowned PGA Major of the year, The Masters, and one of the most unique PDGA Majors of the year, the National Collegiate Disc Golf Championships (NCDGC).
In the Championship Flight, Augusta University started with a lead of six and ended with a lead of eight for their third NCDGC title. If that doesn't sound right, it's because this is the first time they've won as "Augusta University". They've won in previous years as both "Georgia Regents-University" and "Augusta State University". That doesn't take away at all from their talent, but let's hope the name change sticks this time, for conveience sake.
After 3 rounds of Team Doubles and one round of Singles, the race for the title of National Collegiate Disc Golf Team Champions is far from over. With the wind staying steady from the first throw of the day to the last, there was no way to predict what was going to happen as the teams in the Championship Flight took on two courses on the other side of the Hippodrome Disc Golf Complex property this morning and afternoon.

At the opening ceremony of the 2016 National Collegiate Disc Golf Championships (NCDGC), each university is announced one-by-one, giving the teammates a chance to display their school pride as they make their way towards the mainstage. Some schools did it louder than others, but it was obvious that everyone that had that opportunity was more than happy to be there. The NCDGC is truly a disc golf event like no other.

After months and months of planning, the 2016 National Collegiate Disc Golf Championships (NCDGC) is finally here. The NCDGC is the first PDGA Major of the year and is without a doubt one of the most unique and most exciting. 51 different universities from around the country will be represented at the Hippodrome Disc Golf Complex in North Augusta, SC, all with the hopes of bringing home the title of Collegiate National Champions.
On the final day of the 2015 National Collegiate Disc Golf Championship, a PDGA Major, there was an air of excitement as the teams strode out on to the courses at the Hippodrome Disc Golf Complex. Saturday would be a day that carried with it unmeasurable amounts of emotion; the sensation of playing for something larger than one’s self is often inspiring and humbling. The teams at the top and in contention for the title would need to channel the utmost focus, drive and determination in order to see it through. And, just as they had the day before, each Final came down to the wire.
The start of the 2014 - 2015 Collegiate Disc Golf Season is fast approaching. Our schedule is packed with more events than ever and we are happy to announce that we will have 25 Qualifier Events for this year's National Collegiate Disc Golf Championships. Due to another superb year of growth, we had to adjust how we compose the qualifier schedule. We have had influx of applications for events and the system we had just wasn't flexible enough to garner the growth.
When college sports fans consider some of the great rivalries throughout history, they are sure to include Auburn vs. Georgia, Penn State vs. Ohio State, South Carolina vs. Clemson, and Texas vs. Texas Tech. Schools that most likely would not make the list are Kennesaw State, Alabama-Huntsville, or Tennessee Tech. Yet all of these great institutions are on a collision course this spring, as they prepare for the 2014 National Collegiate Disc Golf Championships to be held in North Augusta, South Carolina April 16-19 at the Hippodrome Sports Complex.
The end of the 2013-2014 collegiate disc golf season came to end Saturday with the conclusion of the California Clash and Gateway Collegiate Classic qualifier events. Five schools earned their spots into the National Collegiate Disc Golf Championships at those tournaments.
The 2013-2014 Collegiate Disc Golf season kicked off on September 14th. The PDGA and Innova Disc Golf are proud supporters of the collegiate disc golf season and are a great help to our tournament directors and our players.
