Hall of Fame Classic to Close Out the 2015 National Tour
Six months later with six huge events already in the books, the 2015 PDGA National Tour grand finale event is about to begin. And the best part is, it's right outside our back door, literally! The 2015 Disc Golf Hall of Fame Classic (HOFC) presented by MVP Disc Sports takes place at the one and only International Disc Golf Center (IDGC) right here in Appling, GA. Home to three championship courses put together by some of the best disc golf course designers in the world, the IDGC is always an exciting venue for high stakes disc golf competition. The IDGC is home to the "Steady" Ed Headrick Disc Golf Museum as well as the Disc Golf Hall of Fame, for which this tournament is named.
The final event on the PDGA National Tour is an important event to attend for those that have been accumulating NT points throughout the year. For the first six NT events, only the best five finishes count towards a player's overall points. Those points are then added to the points earned at the final event to determine each player's overall score. To make a long story short, the 2015 HOFC is the one event that you can't skip if you need points, because it is the only event that can't be excluded from a player's overall score.
NT points are awarded based on the place that a competitor finishes in at each event. Paul McBeth #27523 and Paige Pierce #29190 are the current points leader with only the 2015 HOFC remaining, both of which have a comfortable lead to say the least. Details about how points are awarded and how many spots are paid out can be found on the PDGA National Tour Elite Series page. Current ranks for both MPO and FPO competitors can be found on the 2015 NT Standings page.
Courses
The IDGC is home to three extremely challenging courses: the "Steady" Ed Headrick Memorial Course, the W.R. Jackson Memorial Course, and the Jim Warner Memorial Course. The Open and Open Women's divisions (A-Pool) will be playing one round per day for a total of three rounds, taking on the "Steady" Ed course for Round 1, followed by the most difficult course on the property for Saturday's Round 2 and Sunday's Round 3, the W.R. Jackson course, designed by course mastermind John Houck #1688. All other divisions will be playing one round per day, playing each of the three courses once before finishing the event on Sunday.

W.R. Jackson Memorial Course

Jim Warner Memorial Course

Because a concurrent A-Tier is being run at the same time as this grand finale PDGA National Tour event, some of the divisions will be teeing off with a shotgun start format while some will be playing with tee times. It might sound a bit complicated but it's actually pretty simple. The Open and Open Women's division competitors (A-Pool) will have tee times each day. The remaining age-protected and amateur divisions (B-Pool and C-Pool), will be teeing off via a shotgun start spread out across the three different courses.
The International Disc Golf Center is located in Wildwood Park, an enormous county-owned property located a good half an hour outside of the nearest metropolis. The location is perfect for championship-level disc golf courses, but certainly is not ideal for cell tower coverage. It is for this reason, as we've seen a few times in the past, that live streaming internet coverage is simply not a real possibility. However, we do have a few different YouTube teams on site to film select cards each day, as well as live scoring on pdgalive.com that will include updates, pictures, and videos, as usual.
This is the last stop for the 2015 PDGA National Tour! Follow along with hole-by-hole scoring each day and catch up on the details on PDGA.com each night. And last but not least, let's all cross our fingers that the rain and thunderstorms will avoid Appling, GA this weekend!
