AMERICANS VICTORIOUS IN TALLINN

The European Disc Golf Festival marks the end of the main European Swing, and it’s been a fantastic way to end the European stint with great disc golf memories and history made!

In the FPO division Heidi Laine had been top of the leaderboard since finishing her great first round, but the three strokes she had on Missy Gannon and Kaidi Allsalu going into the Final Round proved to be too few.

Laine played a -2 round, totaling -12 for the event, but as Missy Gannon replicated her -6 round on Moving Day, she ended round 3 with a total of -13. However, waiting for her at the arena at the Tallinn Song Festival Grounds was Eveliina Salonen, who sat at 13 under par, which meant that we were in for play-off between the two to find the champion.

The play-off would take place inside the arena on hole 1 and 18, but the latter never came into play, as Gannon executed a tap-in birdie for the title.

That puts Missy Gannon over Salonen while Heidi Laine takes 3rd. Norwegian Anniken Kristiansen Steen climbed 4 spots today to claim 4th place with her -6 round, while the Estonian quartet Keiti Tätte, Kaire Tekku, Kaidi Allsalu and Kristin Tattar came in at 5th, T6th and 8th respectively.

Ella Hansen took solo 9th while Silva Saarinen and Jenni Karppinen tied for 10th.

In the MPO division Ricky Wysocki had placed himself firmly in 1st place after his historic 1119-rated -16 first round. Going into R3 he had a 5-stroke cushion to Kyle Klein in 2nd place, while Paul McBeth sat one back of Klein in 3rd.

And for those who have seen coverage of disc golf tournaments from before COVID-19, the Final Round in the Estonian capital must have given some flashbacks to some of the epic battles between McBeth and Wysocki, as McBeth put on an incredible charge for the win.

McBeth put on a birdie fest and finished -12 for the round, putting him at -31 for the event. That, however, was one birdie off the lead, which gives McBeth 2nd place, while Wysocki is victorious yet again in Europe with his -7 round that took him to 32 under par for the event.

In 3rd Joona Heinänen matched McBeth’s -12 and climbed a spot to claim 3rd place, while Kyle Klein takes 4th with a -6 for the day.
