2022 PDGA Majors

2022 PDGA Majors

The 2022 Champions Cup will be contested over four rounds of traditional stroke play from April 14 - 17, the PDGA Majors Committee announced today.

The inaugural edition was originally slated to feature a mix of stroke play and match play formats over five days, but after receiving additional feedback from players and stakeholders, the Majors Committee re-opened discussions, ultimately delivering a recommendation to return to a more traditional format.

The PDGA Board of Directors approved the change during its recent Fall Summit.

The schedule for the 2022 PDGA A-Tiers is now available, along with the 2022 PDGA Tour Standards that will go into effect on Jan. 1, 2022.

PDGA state and provincial coordinators may now start accepting requests for approval of dates for 2022 B-Tier and C-Tier events.

The 2022 PDGA Event Sanctioning Form is now enabled, so event directors for pre-approved 2022 A-Tiers and State/Provincial Coordinator-approved 2022 B & C-Tiers may now submit their sanctioning.

Reminders:

The Champions Cup invite list includes champions from all 2021 PDGA Elite Series events, comprised of five PDGA National Tour and 11 Disc Golf Pro Tour stops, as well as all MPO/FPO Majors, including Pro Worlds, the United States Disc Golf Championship, and the United States Women’s Disc Golf Championship. The MP40/FP40 winners of the PDGA Masters Disc Golf World Championships are also invited to attend.

The PDGA Majors Committee has established a preliminary list of premier disc golf events that will serve as automatic qualifiers for the inaugural PDGA Champions Cup, set to take place April 14-17, 2022, at the International Disc Golf Center in Appling, Georgia. The field size will be limited to 100 MPO and 40 FPO. Registration will be offered in tiers and will be based on PDGA player ratings once invited players have had an opportunity to register.

2022 A-Tier Requests

With the release of the 2022 Majors & Elite schedule, the PDGA is now accepting requests for 2022 North American A-Tiers via the A-Tier Request Form online. The submission deadline is Monday, October 18, 2021.

When planning for A-Tier dates, please remember not to use dates that would be in mileage conflict with an event already on the provided Major & Elite Schedule.  An A-Tier may not be within 1,250 miles of a Major, or 750 miles of an Elite Series event.

As announced at the end of September, the PDGA National Tour and DGPT Elite Series have been merged into a single cohesive tour - The Disc Golf Pro Tour: “The Official Pro Tour of the PDGA.” Many fans have been left wondering what to expect going into the next year. Good news: The 2022 PDGA Elite SeriesEuro Tour and Majors schedule is here.

Disc golf continues to grow, building its history and tradition with each season. In 2022, another touchstone event will join the PDGA Elite Series calendar with the addition of the inaugural Champions Cup, set to be held at the International Disc Golf Center in Appling, Georgia.

Disc golf is growing, and so are the opportunities for the sport’s elite players to claim one of its most coveted prizes: a PDGA Major Championship Title.

The 2022 PDGA Majors schedule has been released and includes 10 events beginning and ending in Rock Hill, SC.

The 2022 Majors will be contested in locations originally slated to host in 2021, but which were delayed one year after tournament directors and local organizing committees agreed to make room for events that were postponed in 2020.
