533 players across 23 divisions were throughout the Cary & Raleigh area for PDGA Major named after the late Tim Selinske, a pioneer, advocate and ambassador in disc golf.
You have to use the word "area" to describe this disc golf hotbed that will test players of all skill levels this week, from PDGA No. 68 to PDGA No. 293652, from pioneers of the sport to those just starting out in the lifetime game.
The pace for the four-round PDGA Major was set early and, if the opening day on Thursday was any indication, the final three rounds will be action packed.
Eleven of the 21 division are separated by less than three strokes, including one-stroke leads for Allen Hermosillo (MP40), Jennifer Allen (FP40), JohnE McCray (MP50) and Jeffrey Wright (MA50).

The cut has happened, and the final push to take down a PDGA Major title is on in the Quad Cities.
Nineteen champions will be crowned on Sunday at the 2022 PDGA Tim Selinske U.S. Masters Championships, the 12th running of the vent that honors the late pioneer and ambassador of the sport.
There are several battles that will come down to the end at Camden Park.

Ohn Scoggins is seeing the results of her dedication this season.
All she has to do is look at the leaderboard.
No matter the tournament, Scoggins has been near the top throughout the season, whether it’s a PDGA Major, like the 2022 PDGA Tim Selinske U.S. Masters Championships this weekend, Pro Worlds or an Elite Series.
It’s easy to find Scoggins after a tournament round. She’s usually near the practice basket or back on the course, and that’s been the formula this year.
“Pretty good start,” said the Montrose, Iowa native. “I did pretty well at Worlds to start too, so hopefully I can hold it together a little better this time.”
The locations of two Major events for the 2015 calendar for the PDGA were up for bid throughout the off season. The 2015 Tim Selinske US Masters Championship and the 2015 Amateur World Championships were looking for a home. Bids poured in over the winter break and several cities proposed to host these prestigious disc golf events. Although many intriguing bids were submitted, only two cities would be able to call themselves a host of a PDGA major in 2015.
