The first disc golf event in Israel was in December 2006 at Park Hadera. We did not have any baskets then so Asaf Levi and Tomer Krauthamer got some umbrellas and bits and pieces and made some.  This photo shows Asaf’s first testing of the baskets at the workshop.

Since then we have had some interesting events in interesting locations, for example here’s a picture of kids 7-9 years old, graduates of a Frisbee course, shown here with a top player Dori Yaniv participating at a tournament at Wolfson Park, Tel Aviv. 

Unfortunately the kids eventually stopped coming to events, as did a lot of other players, but new players keep replacing them.  However, we have learned some things from inevitable mistakes in this young sport and are working very hard to increase the number of newcomers as well as keeping the present ones happy and getting the drop-outs to return.  We believe that hosting a PDGA International event will be a big step forward towards this goal.

We are now returning full cycle to the same gorgeous and natural Park Hadera, where the first PDGA sanctioned event in Israel will be played on April 22-24th, 2011, this time with our own Israel-made professional metal baskets.  The last photo shows another top player, 56 year old Michael Elsner, trying out basket No. 4 of the event.
