2024 Throw Pink — Round 2 Recap

Friday, October 11, 2024 - 22:52

Rebecca Cox stepped up to one of the most daunting putts in disc golf and had a thought run through her head.

"I have to make this putt to stay on lead card," Cox told the Disc Golf Network's Nate Perkins. "I thought to myself, someone who wants to win go for this putt.

"It felt good to do something like that."

Cox delivered and kept her spot on the lead card heading into the weekend at the 2024 Throw Pink Women's Disc Golf Championship, tied for third with Kristin Tattar.

Not much changed at the top heading into Round 3 but, as Cox's putt on the 18th proved, the pressure is rising at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, South Carolina.

Eveliina Salonen had a rollercoaster ending and a tougher day on the green than her opening round but with her stellar performance again off of the tee, kept her two-stroke lead entering Saturday. Salonen was a clean 4-under through 11 holes, bounced back from her first bogey with two-straight birdies but carded two miscues on Holes 16 and 18. She continued to throw the disc well — leading the field in C1 and C2 in Regulation as well as strokes gained tee-to-green — but went 50% from C1X putting.

Ohn Scoggins matched Salonen's 3-under round to keep her spot in solo second, two strokes back with an 8-under total. Tattar and Cox are at 7-under at the midway point.
