After shooting the hot round four days in a row, Kristin Tattar has won the 2023 PDGA Champions Cup presented by Bushnell and her third PDGA Major title of her career so far.

Tattar dominated once again, extending her 12-stroke lead to 14 and finishing the tournament at 27 strokes under par. According to StatMando, this is the largest margin of victory ever at an FPO Major with a 30-plus player field.

Her wire-to-wire win also included a massive bogey-free streak extending back to the Blue Ridge Championship. While her 74-hole streak came to an end as she took a bogey on hole 4 of the final round, she kept a clean scorecard for the rest of the round and only took a single bogey in the entire tournament.

Tattar now has back-to-back Major wins with her last being the 2022 PDGA Pro World Championships.

“Last year I feel like I played very well during Worlds as well, but I feel like here I had better flow and I felt so confident,” Tattar said when asked about her performance this weekend, “I would say this is the best performance that I’ve had.”

For comparison, the 2022 PDGA Champions Cup was won by Paige Pierce at nine strokes under par and Tattar’s final score in 2023 is an 18-stroke improvement. W.R. Jackson featured three new pins for the FPO division in 2023.

“It slipped out of my hands last year so it feels good to play one of the greatest tournaments I’ve ever played in my life,” Tattar said after tapping in the winning putt.

While Tattar seemed uncatchable on Championship Sunday, the other players on the FPO leaderboard still battled it out for second place.

Ohn Scoggins finished the tournament at 13 strokes under par, jumping into second place and securing her second podium at an FPO Major. Kat Mertsch, Catrina Allen, and Hailey King finished tied for third place at 11 strokes under par. Mertsch in particular shot 3-under for the day, sharing the hot round with Tattar and picking up her first podium at a Major.

Now that Tattar has won a U.S. Women’s Disc Golf Championship, a PDGA Pro World Championship, and a PDGA Champions Cup, there’s still one Major left for Tattar to win.

When asked what she would like to accomplish next, Tattar said, “I think I want to win more Majors, I really like the European Open as well. I would like to get that win in my list of Major wins because that’s also one of my favorite courses and probably my favorite course in Europe.”

She'll get that chance in July.

Up next, the PDGA Elite Series resumes as the Disc Golf Pro Tour heads to Jonesboro, Arkansas for the Play It Again Sports Jonesboro Open Powered by Prodigy.
