Request for Proposal – Course Redesign Services for the W.R. Jackson Memorial Disc Golf Course
Background
The Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA) is a 501(c)4 nonprofit member organization and the international governing body for the sport of disc golf. With over 130,000 active members in more than 60 countries, the PDGA is the largest disc golf organization in the world.
The International Disc Golf Center (IDGC), located in Appling, Georgia, USA, is the headquarters of the PDGA.
Recently, the IDGC and other areas of Wildwood Park were greatly impacted by infestation of the southern pine beetle, resulting in the eradication of 29 acres of pines on the IDGC property, including a large portion of the W.R. Jackson Memorial disc golf course.
Description
It is the intention of the PDGA and the IDGC Restoration Group to select a disc golf course designer for the redesign and to assist in construction of a new championship-level course on the IDGC property.
WR Jackson Redesign RFP Questions Answered »
The selected designer will be tasked with developing a world-class course which will reflect the abilities of the sport’s best athletes while working with the owner (PDGA), an approved construction manager and property stakeholders, including Wildwood Park, Columbia County, and the Army Corps of Engineers. User safety and the minimization of environmental impact on the proposed 120 acres of available land are to remain paramount in all design considerations.
