The fifth edition World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF) World Team Disc Golf Championship is coming up later this year in Mundaring, Perth, Australia. For four days, November 6-9, 2024, disc golfers representing countries from around the world will compete in doubles and single match play formats on two 18-hole courses located in the bush and throughout the Mandaring Sporting Club Golf course.

As the official WFDF national association for the United States, the Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA) has been tasked with filling the Team USA roster which will include MPO, MP40 and FPO divisions.

Teams will be comprised of six players — three in MPO, two in FPO and one in MP40/FP40, as well as alternates. The PDGA, as the USA national association, will provide the team registration fees and team jerseys. Players will be responsible for their travel costs and lodging. All players must be current PDGA members and must be a minimum of 18 years old, or travel with a parent/guardian. There is no payout for this event.

The 2024 WFDF WTDGC is also a points qualifier for the 2025 World Games in Chengdu, China. Disc golf returns to the World Games as a medal event for the first time in 24 years in 2025. The event is August 7-17, 2025 in China.

Apply for the U.S. Team

Selection of Team USA representatives will be based on PDGA player ratings. The PDGA member(s) with the highest rating for which they apply will be the first players invited to represent Team USA.

Is the PDGA also recruiting for and supporting the teams from the other participating nations who will be sending PDGA members to this event? Is there any financial support being offered to other teams? This seems like an unfair advantage offered to the richest disc golf country at the expense of all PDGA members worldwide.

Dear Rockymountainway; as this is a WFDF event where the countries participating are governed by their own National Associations it is not the responsibility of PDGA to fund any country apart from USA. WFDF works closely with PDGA and all NA's to help all countries that wish to enter WTDGC be able to come - what has surprised us all is that this will be the largest World Team event with 29 teams currently registered - despite it being held in the southern hemisphere for the first time.
If you have any ideas as to how best to improve this situation and help less developed countries attend please let us know. We have 3 slots left as we will cap the event at 32 so an offer of costs at any level may swing it for those final places. Thanks for the comment.
