Back-to-back four and a half hour rounds is enough to suck the life right out of anyone, yet the ladies here at the 2017 United States Womens Disc Golf Championships presented by Prodigy Disc finished the day with ease. They may have been a bit tired, but it didn’t stop them from having plenty of fun in the sun at Harmon Hills just outside of Johnson City, Tennessee.

A very grateful Barry Schultz after winning his 6th Tim Selinske US Masters Championship, an event named after his late, great friend.
Three days and four rounds later, the 2017 Tim Selinske US Masters Championships came to an end this past Sunday in Des Moines. The 300+ competitors at the event were split between three courses for the final round with close and exciting finishes taking place at each.
With all divisions now having three rounds in the books, the 300+ competitors have only the final round to go here in Des Moines for the 2017 Tim Selinske US Masters Championships. With perfect weather in the forecast once again, it should be a beautiful and exciting afternoon as we head towards the crowning of 11 new PDGA Major champions.
After a lights-out opening round on Friday, 5X US Masters Champion Barry Schultz looked to be on pace for his sixth US Masters title. However, during the first of two rounds that were played yesterday, Dave Feldberg made his move, carding a ridiculous 15 under par (41) at Grandview to put himself two ahead of Barry as they headed into round 3 at Ewing Park.
Day one of the 2017 Tim Selinske US Masters came to an end late in the afternoon on Friday with the 300+ professional and amateur competitors finishing either one or two rounds in and around the greater Des Moines area. With two days left of competition in a city known for having difficult courses, there’s still plenty of twists and turns to come.
Barry Schultz emerged as the leader of the Masters division after their opening round at Pickard Park finishing at 12 under par (51) that included a run of seven birdies to end the day. Sitting in a tie for second place just one shy of Barry are Dave Feldberg and George Smith, both of which went bogey-free with 11 birdies to finish at 52.

As a young sport, disc golf hasn’t had to deal with the passing of many of its founding fathers, it’s legends if you will. For that we are thankful, but it certainly makes it more difficult to manage when it does happen. Tim Selinkse #2026 serves as perhaps the greatest example. Tim devoted his life to the growth of disc golf, first with a career at Wham-O and eventually as one of the founders of Innova Champion Discs. It wasn’t Tim’s passion for disc golf that set him apart, however, it was his warm, loveable persona.

APPLING, Ga. – Another tournament means another lead for the name that is a fixture atop leaderboards in 2017. This time, though, the margin is for disc golf’s biggest prize.
So instead of toiling away for the last month on the pro circuit’s West Coast swing, he decamped to Georgia to get a head start on an accomplishment he’s been seeking his entire career.
Dylan Lhotak prepares for his tee shot during Round 2 of the USADGC.
After 36 holes up, down, and across the massive slopes of Kensington Toboggan DGC, two names now sit at the top of the leaderboard; Dylan Lhotak #41076 and Brandon Oleskie #84911. Both players are heading into the final round tomorrow afternoon having carded just one bogey each and will need to continue that level of near-flawless play to take down the title of 2017 USADGC Champion.

On June 3rd, 2016, Michigan’s own Brandon Oleskie #84911 finished his opening round of the 2016 United States Amateur Disc Golf Championship (USADGC) bogey-free with seven birdies for a score of 55, the lowest score of the day matched only by eventual 2016 USADGC Champion Gavin Rathbun #60436 and co-2nd place finisher Adam Hammes #57365, both of whom have now turned pro.

Of the seven divisions competing at the 2017 Amateur World Doubles Championships (AWD) in Mt. Vernon, Texas this weekend, five were won by none other than Lone Star State locals. Both teammates in the Advanced division, as well as both teammates/sisters in the Advanced Women's division, claim Texas as their home, as do the winners of the Adv. Grandmaster, Adv. Senior Grandmaster, and Intermediate divisions. This proves once again that you simply don’t mess with Texas, especially when it comes to playing doubles disc golf.
The second day of the PDGA Amateur World Doubles Championships began much differently than the first. A crisp, cool breeze greeted the players and Staff as they arrived at the Selah and Trey Deuce Ranches this morning, and a welcome change it was. This event has been plagued by bad weather in previous iterations, so to say we were delighted to be graced with some sunshine and moderate temps is an understatement. As the sun rose, the winds died down, creating purely perfect conditions for scoring on this moving day of the World Doubles Championship. Many teams did exactly that; make moves.
On a day that was expected to see a wide variance of weather patterns, Mother Nature did not disappoint during the first round of the Amateur Doubles Disc Golf World Championships Presented by Innova Champion Discs and Houck Design in Talco and Mt. Vernon, Texas. We woke to the dissipating remnants of a wicked storm that passed through the area overnight, and as the sun continued to rise, the winds began to pick up. No problem for most of the competitors here this weekend, however, as playing consistent and solid disc golf in the wind comes naturally to the hordes of players attending from the Texas and Oklahoma area.
