Since 2012, the PDGA’s Women’s Global Event (WGE) has enabled women from all over the world to participate in one unifying event. The WGE gives women and girls the chance to compete with their peers, ones that share the same love of the game, no matter the distance between them. It reminds us that even if we are playing in a division by ourselves or are the only woman in the tournament, we are not alone.
All 23 divisions were represented, with ages ranging from 5 to 79. The biggest age group (through membership records) was 30-39 year olds. FA40 was the biggest age-based division played, with 254.
The biggest divisions overall were FA3 (671), FA4 (596) and then FA2 (471).
She tees off, with no other female at her course — or even state — competing in her division. Sometimes, it just happens, no other females signed up to play the tournament.
But today, hundreds of miles away, one of her competitors is putting out on hole 18. Another competitor in her division, in Germany, finished their round hours ago. An Australian competitor has already gone to bed after playing earlier in the day.
From first-time disc golfers to three generations hitting the course together, the goals of community and growing the sport for girls and women of all ages were accomplished with record numbers.
Now, it’s time to start planning the 2022 WGE.
The PDGA Women’s Committee recently announced that the global event will return for its sixth edition on August 6-7, 2022 and will become an annual event.

Molly Orman was watching her daughter get ready to tee off when the 6-year-old suddenly stopped and watched with amazement as another group of women teed off another hole.
After her daughter teed off, she received a compliment on her form.
The 2010s saw exponential growth for both disc golf and the PDGA. We’re looking back on a phenomenal 10 years in our Decade on Display series, where we reflect and reminisce about the sport’s successes both on and off the course. Keep an eye out for more through the end of 2019.
Promote Your Business with Disc Golf's Most Popular Women's Event
The Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA) is the international governing body for the sport of disc golf and the largest disc golf organization in the world. The Women’s Global Event (WGE) is a biennial worldwide celebration of women in disc golf featuring global ratings-based competition between women playing their local participating events.
We're now just 10 days away from the fourth edition of the PDGA Women's Global Event (WGE). On May 12th, more than 1,700 women from 13 countries and 39 states will tee off at their local, satellite WGEs to compete against all women and girls competing in the same division. The accessibility of these virtual, ratings-based PDGA events and the encouraging atmosphere they provide have been essential factors in facilitating the growth of the female disc golfing demographic since the WGE's inaugural event in 2012.

On behalf of the PDGA, we are proud to announce that the 2016 PDGA Women’s Global Event’s registration is now sitting at 1,400+ participants world-wide, and we still have a few weeks to go! This world-wide women’s tournament consists of smaller satellite events being run on a course near you on May 14, 2016. The details of each event are subject to the Tournament Director, but every event is open and welcoming to female participants of any skill level and of any age. The competitors this year span across 19 PDGA divisions available ranging from 7 years old to 75 years young!
Join us in 2016, as disc golfers and the PDGA continue to encourage more women to head out to their local disc golf courses! On May 14th, Women Global Events will be run around the world simultaneously to “virtually” create the largest women’s tournament on the planet.
Wow. What a weekend. 1100+ disc golfing women of the world united for the same cause, the same tournament, the same day (or two) of fun. Days later, after receiving the results from a large majority of the tournaments involved, we are happy to unofficially announce the overall winner of the 2014 PDGA Women’s Global Event (WGE). Two days of heated battle ensued between Catrina Allen #44184 and Valerie Jenkins #17495, both of which happened to be playing at the Daisy Chains Women’s Tournament in Watsonville, CA.
Two years ago, the PDGA created and hosted one of the most important new events for the sport of disc golf, the Women’s Global Event. It took months and months of planning, but when it was all said and done it was deemed a huge success. 636 women from 24 states in the USA joined forces with women in Norway, Finland, and Australia to compete in what we now consider one of our most cherished events.
In honor of the upcoming 2014 PDGA Women’s Global Event (WGE), we wanted to cover what is and always has been one of the most successful women-only disc golf events in the country, the Texas Women’s Championship. The WGE already has 1000+ registered women playing in 60+ events all over the United States, Canada, Europe, Australia, and Japan.
Two months to go and we've already broken the records from 2012. We now have 630 women registered for 52 events spanning 28 states and 7 countries, and it's still growing!
Although the 600 available player’s packages have been reserved, it is not too late to participate in the event. Please visit our 2014 PDGA Women's Global Event page for information on how it works, how to sign up, how to register your event, and more. You may also contact the WGE tournament director, Karolyn O’Cull at [email protected] with any questions.
The first ever Women’s Global Event is finally here! Over 600, that's right, SIX HUNDRED women will be competing in the 41 WGEs around the world. Four countries and 24 different states are hosting Women’s Global Events.
The first ever Women’s Global Event is just around the corner. There are over 40 registered Women’s Global Events around the world including events in Norway, Finland, Australia and 24 different states. So, find a WGE event near you and sign up online now!
